Funding

Article 4 Capital and Resources

  1. The Foundation is endowed with an initial capital provided by it's council members and complemented by the governement of Geneva.
  2. The Foundation shall in addition be funded through gifts, legacies, subsidies and from various other sources, as well as through the profits from its activities and this, insofar as the funds received not be encumbered by charges or conditions which are incompatible with the goals of the Foundation.
  3. The Foundation may not undertake financial commitments exceeding the financial means it has at its disposition.
  4. Under no circumstances may the wealth of the Foundation be returned to donors nor utilized partially or totally, in any manner whatsoever, for their own benefit.

Contributors

An initial contribution was made by the founding members of the Geneva Prize, which was followed by a donation from the authorities of the Republic and Canton of Geneva which allowed to administer and give the Prize three times between 1999 and 2008.

Subsequent contributions were also received from the General Directorate of the Geneva University Hospitals Swiss Society of Psychiatry and Psythotherapy and the Swiss Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Servier (Switzerland), the World Psychiatric Association, Wyeth (Switzerland) .
